Dane is the eponymous monkey in Dane's troop. Despite the name of the troop, he is not the troop alpha, and may not even be particularly high-ranking.
Dane is missing his right arm and leg.
It is possible that the monkey that JW calls Dane is the same one that AM calls Mr. Takashi, as they are in the same troop and share what seems to be the same disability.
In early 2022, Dane suffered a facial wound that disabled his right cheek pouch for a few weeks.
