Dane's troop, originally referred to by AM as Invalid troop, is a troop of monkeys on Monkey Hill that seems to have a larger-than-normal amount of disabled monkeys. Some of these monkeys were maimed by humans, accidentally or deliberately; others were born with genetic variations that JW suspects might be due to inbreeding.
The troop is named for Dane, who is a distinctive-looking monkey, missing two of his limbs. However, Dane is not the alpha of the troop.
There are about 120 monkeys in this troop.
