Charlotte
Charlotte was an abandoned baby monkey from Skull-Head's troop. Her birth was caught on camera. For some reason, her mother Elaine abandoned her. The humans filming her birth waited several hours, but no monkey came to help Charlotte, who was lying weak and helpless in the road. They had no choice but to take Charlotte back to their home to nurse her to health.
As Charlotte grew stronger, the family wondered what to do. They eventually decided to attempt to return Charlotte to her natal troop, to see if anyone would adopt her.
Several monkeys approached Charlotte, including her biological mother Elaine, who quickly ran away when she realized who Charlotte was. Eyeshadow offered to nurse Charlotte, but was rebuffed. Eventually, Mia took Charlotte in.
Over the next few days, the troop's regular feeders noticed that Charlotte was generally being held by Mia's brother Gerry (identified by AM as "Enoch"). Being a male, Gerry was unable to nurse Charlotte. When she tried to, he carried her upside-down. JW says that this wasn't Gerry being stubborn, but that Mia, having no maternal experience due to her prepubescent sterilization, delegated the task to him.
The feeders noticed that Charlotte was likely not getting enough milk, because Gerry refused to let anyone else handle Charlotte. Worse, the way he was carrying her meant that he was constantly bumping her head on the ground.
The feeders were able to take Charlotte back, although this caused a big row with Skull-Head's troop, as most troops do not look kindly on what they perceive as humans stealing their kind. Teeny in particular lost trust in human feeders for several weeks, and refused to come out to see them.
Charlotte's head injuries proved to be too great; AM feels that they caused swelling in her brain. She passed away that evening.
